Winter Break & Carnival Celebrations – Colourful Gozo

Winter in Xlendi is not exactly about swimming. The water is a bit too cold and the sea can get a little rough on windy days. However this by no way means that Xlendi is only enjoyable during the warmer months.
In fact, the colder winter months give Xlendi a kind of magic and allure that makes it more precious. Whilst many days are perfect for a painting session, Xlendi on the chillier days is the perfect places to ramble around and explore the rocky landscape and countryside. A walk to the coastal tower of Xlendi or even hiking as far the Sanap Cliffs in Munxar is always intriguing. The views are simply breathaking. Add to that the cosy cafes, bars and restaurants where you can tuck into a hearty lunch, dinner or snack and you have a memorable day!
And now with Carnival around the corner, the call of a short winter holiday might be more attractive. This year Carnival will be celebrated in Gozo during the weekend of the 24th of February. Carnival in Gozo is a festival of colours, fun, costumes and parades!

Old and young alike can join in the Carnival tradition. You’ll have more fun if you don a costume and join the revellers. If you’re here during the Carnival days, visit a confectionery and ask for the ‘Prinjolata’, Gozo’s Carnival treat made up of smashed biscuits, cherries, nuts and chocolate! Book your stay with Xlendi Tourist Services!  A February gateway is a great way to combine the blissful winter countryside, great dining experiences and the thrills and merriment of the Carnival days.
